Sister Jean Marie Cleveland graduated from Marian College, now Marian University, with a degree in mathematics in 1964. She earned a master’s degree in mathematics from Purdue University in 1971 and a master’s degree in pastoral studies from Loyola University of Chicago in 1988.

Sister Jean Marie taught mathematics at the elementary and high school levels for many years. She taught at Cardinal Ritter High School for four years and was the principal of Our Lady of Angels High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, from 1972-79 and Oldenburg Academy in Oldenburg, Indiana, from 1979-87.

In addition to her work in education, Sister Jean Marie nurtured and strengthened many young lives through her work as a parish life coordinator at St. Patrick and Holy Rosary parishes in Indianapolis. She was a member of the leadership team for the Sisters of St. Francis, Oldenburg. She is also an active leader in mission effectiveness at Marian University and in Marian University’s “Rebuild My Church” program. Sister Jean Marie has a brother and sister-in-law and is blessed with three nephews, one niece, and eight great nieces and nephews.
